Pete’s journey started back in 1981 when he was just 16 years of age. He trained ‘one on one’ with a Master Joiner and founder of Pittwater Joinery. He took over from his retiring Master at the age of 25 and continued growing the business together with his wife and later two children.
Pete’s enthusiasm and dedication to both the trade and his family has seen Pittwater Joinery become one of the most preeminent Joinery companies in Australia.
Pete serves his clients with a wealth of knowledge, experience and old school certitude.
His love of the trade runs deep and provides him with a strong sense of purpose and fulfilment.

Some people find their calling. Dirk Beukers was born into his.
Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Dirk spent his formative years in and around the Pittwater Joinery workshop in Mona Vale — a space that, from his earliest memories, felt less like a workplace and more like home. The smell of timber, the rhythm of the machines, the quiet satisfaction of a perfectly fitted joint — these were the constants of his childhood, and they shaped everything that followed.
Under the guidance of his father Peter Beukers, one of the most respected master craftsmen in the Australian joinery and cabinetmaking industry, Dirk began his formal apprenticeship in 2007.
He studied at Northern Beaches TAFE while training hands-on alongside Peter, absorbing not only the technical foundations of the trade but the standards, the values, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that have defined Pittwater Joinery for decades.
Dirk was fortunate to learn from a wide network of highly skilled tradespeople, manufacturers, material suppliers, and industry figures that Peter had cultivated over a lifetime in the business — an education in craft that no classroom alone could provide.
From the beginning, Dirk’s ambition was clear. He set his sights on what the old terminology of the trade calls a master craftsman — a designation earned not through a single qualification, but through years of disciplined practice, genuine curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to doing things right.
That goal has never changed. It has only deepened.
Today, as Managing Director of Pittwater Joinery, Dirk leads a business that operates at the very highest end of Australia’s residential joinery and cabinetmaking industry.
Working exclusively on bespoke, architect-driven projects for some of the country’s most discerning clients, builders, and designers, the work demands more than technical skill.
It demands an understanding of space, material, and proportion.
It demands the ability to translate an architect’s vision into something that is at once functional, resolved, and quietly extraordinary.
It demands the kind of collaboration — across designers, builders, contractors, and specialist suppliers — that turns a collection of individual decisions into a unified and lasting whole.
This is what drives Dirk. Not any single element in isolation, but all of it together — the material selection, the fine workmanship, the considered detail in every component, the relationships built and maintained through honesty and trust, and ultimately, the moment a project is complete and every person involved knows it has been done to the finest possible standard. That is how Pittwater Joinery’s reputation has been built. That is how Dirk intends to carry it forward.
The transition of leadership from Peter to Dirk is not a departure — it is a continuation.
Peter remains close to the business he built, bringing his extraordinary depth of knowledge and experience to bear in a supporting role, as passionate about the craft today as he has ever been.
The relationship between father and son — built over a lifetime of working side by side — remains one of the most important foundations of the business.
Dirk is acutely aware of what Peter has created and deeply committed to honouring that legacy while steering Pittwater Joinery toward everything that lies ahead.
In pursuit of that future, Dirk has travelled to Japan, Italy, Dubai, the United States, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, and Hawaii — where he saw first-hand the architecture, design, cabinetmaking and joinery as well as furniture making using a vast array of materials and emerging technologies across different cultures and built environments.
He is already planning his next journey to Germany, to attend the world’s largest industry trade fair and explore the latest advances in technology and innovation that will shape the next generation of the craft.
